Did you know TWICE had a concept known as Scientist? It is the title track from the full album Formula of Love: O+T=<3.
This concept was new to KPop and really interesting to me. Especially since it has a futuristic scientific concept. I should have told you this earlier when the comeback occured, and I apologize to myself for the delays. And to you Onces too, but I was really busy and couldn't spend the time to post. Now I have the time as there is less schoolwork now so here it is.
The music video itself had Chaeyoung in her rap verse mentioning Frankenstein, which originated from Mary Shelley's 1818 gothic novel Frankenstein. As a lover of literature and KPop and finding its references, that to me is so COOL!
Honestly, though, Scientist did not remind me of Frankenstein with its concept asides from Chaeyoung's rap. The concept as a whole reminded me more of Brave New World by Aldous Huxley due to its futuristic Scientific concept and the concept of a scientist controlling with love on a subject, which was also exhibited by a similar character, Mustapha Mond. Their world controller, Mustapha Mond, who has black hair and full red lips, was nailed well by the visuals of main dancer Hirai Momo. The company never confirmed this, but from what I see they totally KNEW Mustapha Mond and wanted this love to be shown to their fans to show a unique, controlling, dark form of love.
The first teaser prior to the song's release (a preview) mentioned about TWICE making an experiment of love, and this totally reminds me of the experiment Mustapha Mond tried to conduct on John. Mustapha Mond experimented on John the Savage because she loved him and could not exile him even though he was supposed to be exiled for his misdemeanors as he criticized Mustapha's World State and people would be exiled if they misbehaved like him and were NOT him (ec: Bernard Marx), in the same way TWICE said that love ain't a science for me no license and the intro video stated that they used love as experiment which is similar to that of Mustapha's.
